One of my favorite christmas presents this year was a gorgeous silhouette  of my daughter, Eva. It makes me smile every time I look at it. A silhouette really helps you  notice the details in a person’s appearance; like the way Eva’s shoulder length hair curls up in the back and her perfect button nose. It’s pretty remarkable that this single flat shape is so recognizably one thousand percent her.

Today I’m sharing the work of Charmaine Olivia. She takes the simple form of the silhouette portrait to the next level. Her addition of clean geometric shapes and delicately weighted lines bring this classic french art form to a modern place, at least for me. I could stare at them all day, and at a very reasonable $65 each, I just might!

Eva’s silhouette is very beautiful, and these are very cool! I like the one with the bicycles.

I want her to do a silhouette of me! I wonder what objects she would use within the drawing…These are enchanting and whimsical but so real. I’ve never seen anything like this before!
